Our deployment is protected by Cisco PIX firewalls, an ISA 2006 Server, and by Microsoft ForeFront Antivirus for SharePoint. All data in SharePoint is contained inside databases and is presented to the web via a web server. All communications with the web server and each client connecting is done over HTTPS which prevents anyone from intercepting any data, similar to how online banking is done. All databases are backed up daily and stored in a secure network location, independent from physical servers.
